Taxi Driver, 1976

"Travis Bickle: Shit... I'm waiting for the sun to shine."

"Travis: Thank God for the rain to wash the trash off the sidewalk."

"Travis: You're only as healthy as you feel."

"Travis : I think someone should just take this city and just... just flush it down the fuckin' toilet."

"Travis: The days go on and on... they don't end. All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention, I believe that one should become a person like other people."

"Travis: All the animals come out at night - whores, skunk pussies, buggers, queens, fairies, dopers, junkies, sick, venal. Someday a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets. I go all over. I take people to the Bronx, Brooklyn, I take 'em to Harlem. I don't care. Don't make no difference to me. It does to some. Some won't even take spooks. Don't make no difference to me."

"Wizard: You get a job. You become the job."

"Travis: Listen, you fuckers, you screwheads. Here is a man who would not take it anymore. A man who stood up against the scum, the cunts, the dogs, the filth, the shit. Here is a man who stood up."

"Travis : Don't try it you fuck.
You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? Then who the hell else are you talking... you talking to me? Well I'm the only one here. Who the fuck do you think you're talking to? Oh yeah? OK."

"Betsy: Taking me to a place like this is about as exciting as saying to me "Let's fuck."

"Travis: I realize now how much she's just like the others, cold and distant, and many people are like that, women for sure, they're like a union."

"Betsy: You know what you remind me of?
Travis Bickle: What?
Betsy: That song by Kris Kristofferson.
Travis Bickle: Who's that?
Betsy: A songwriter. 'He's a prophet... he's a prophet and a pusher, partly truth, partly fiction. A walking contradiction.'
Travis Bickle: You sayin' that about me?
Betsy: Who else would I be talkin' about?
Travis Bickle: I'm no pusher. I never have pushed.
Betsy: No, no. Just the part about the contradictions. You are that."

Cabaret, 1972

"Sally: Life is a cabaret ol' chum so come to the Cabaret."

"Sally: Divine decadence darling!"

"MC: Outside it is windy, but inside it is so hot, every night we have ze battle to keep the girls from taking off all their clothing. So don't go away, who knows? Tonight we may lose the battle!
Wilkommen, bienvenue, welcome, im cabaret, au cabaret, to cabaret!"

"MC: In here, life is beautiful. The girls are beautiful.
Even the orchestra is beautiful!"

"Brian: You're American.
Sally: Oh God, how depressing! You're meant to think I'm an international woman of mystery. I'm working on it like mad."

"Sally: I suppose you're wondering what I'm doing, working at a place like the Kit Kat Club.
Brian: Well, it is a rather unusual place.
Sally: That's me, darling. Unusual places, unusual love affairs. I am a most strange and extraordinary person."

"Sally: Ten words exactly. After ten it's extra. You see, Daddy thinks of these things. If I had leprosy, there'd be a cable: "Gee, kid, tough. Sincerely hope nose doesn't fall off. Love.""

"Fritz: Do you know what she has done to me? It's terrible! She has turned me into an honest man."

"MC: Leave your troubles outside! Life is disappointing? Forget it!"

"Brian: Peppermint prairie oysters?
Sally: Oh, you got the toothpaste glass!"

"Sally: Does it really matter so long as you're having fun?"

"Sally: Doesn't my body drive you wild with desire?"

The Passenger, 1975

"The Girl: Who are you?
David Locke: I used to be someone else, but I traded him in. Uh, what about it?
The Girl: Well, I'm in Barcelona.
I'm talking with someone who is somebody else."

"David Locke: Now I think I'm going to be a waiter in Gibraltar.
The Girl: Too obvious.
David Locke: Maybe a novelist in Cairo.
The Girl: Too romantic.
David Locke: How about a gunrunner?
The Girl: Too unlikely.
David Locke: As a matter of fact, I think I 'am' one.
The Girl: Then it depends on which side you're on.
David Locke: Yes."

"The Girl: People disappear every day.
David Locke: Every time they leave the room."

"David Locke: We translate every situation, every experience into the same old codes. We just condition ourselves.
Robertson: We are creatures of habits."

"David Locke: Excuse me. I was trying to remember something.
The Girl: Is it important?
David Locke: No."

"David Locke: I've run out of everything - my wife... the house... an adopted child... a successful job... everything except a few bad habits I could not get rid of."

"David Locke: What can you see now?
The Girl:  A man scratching his shoulder, a kid throwing stones, and dust.
It's very dusty here."

"David Locke: My name is Robertson.
I've been waiting for someone who hasn't arrived.
Man: NiƱos. I've seen so many of them grow up. Other people look at the children and they all imagine a new world. But me, when I watch them, I just see the same old tragedy begin all over again.
